Wow, its been quite some time since I last blogged. Glad to be back at it though!

Last night we went out for my girlfriends birthday and one of my friends was wearing this Fab gold sequins blazer. She was wearing it with dark denim skinnies and a simple white tee underneath. She looked so chic, all us ladies had to find out where she got it from, although we were pretty sure the price tag on it would hurt our eyes. Sure enough, she tells us its from Zara!

It really doesn't matter how much you've paid for something. It can be $300 or $40, its all about how you pull it all together and how you carry yourself. She always looks great, and last night she looked like a million bucks!

The blazer doesn't look like much on their website, you have to see it in person. Here's a link in case your interested. Ill definitely be heading out to Zara shortly to grab myself one as well!

Im really into pop colors this season, be it in fashion or home decor. I feel like the combo gives off a very retro and resort like feel...who wouldn't want to come home from a long, stressful day at work to a home that makes them feel like they're at a resort!? A Very Special Bridal Shower:

Happy Monday everyone! I had such an eventful and great weekend! We celebrated birthdays, bridal showers and Mother's day, it was fab!
Saturday was one of my closest friends bridal shower, which we have all been waiting for impatiently for months. And now its done and over with =(...up next-bachelorette party!! They did such a perfect job with everything from the 10'ft long buffet table-all handmade food by her aunts and family members, to the adorable centerpieces. I cannot wait till the big day to watch my beautiful friend walk down that aisle...its going to be surreal and a heck of a party!

This was the place card table. I loved this floral arrangement, so unique and the colors are amaze! They had that delicate fabric draping down the back wall-thought the fabric would be perfect for a wedding gown!

Each table had a slightly different arrangement, but since the colors and style were the same everything blended n perfectly! Loved the flirty Moroccan vases

The bride-to-be's grandmother sewed all these tiny little gowns for each table and we had to decorate it for the bride to pick the winner! a cute new twist on the toilet paper game.

The party favors were body wash and body lotion, created by the beautiful and very talented bride-to-be. It smells soo good and even has a bit of shimmer to glam up your day-time moisturizing routine.

How cute does she look?! Love the back of this dress, so sexy with that drop necklace.

Saturday afternoon I had lunch with a friend at the new Umami Burger in Studio City, Ca. I can't explain with words how delicious everything I ate was! First off, the place on its own has a very cool vibe, something unique for the valley. It has a trendy bar feel to it. The food was soo damn good! I had the earthbird turkey burger (i think that's what its called)...you cant even taste its turkey! I'm such a genius, I take pictures of the decor and the sides and forget to take the main dish!

New York City's, Fig and Olive restaurant just opened its new location in Los Angeles. My girlfriend had gone to the one in NY while she was visiting and she would not stop ranting and raving about it, so of course we had to go check it our for ourselves. The restaurant is located on Melrose Place in West Hollywood. An olive tree is the center of attention, as it is centered smack in the middle of the restaurant. The combination of the light wood floors, perfect lighting execution and the high ceilings, gives off a very calming and sophisticated feel to this restaurant. Might I add that the service was absolutely amazing! Our waiter was the sweetest...making sure we were satisfied with every dish and beverage we received. He even walked us to our car at valet! If you go, make sure to ask for Edgar, ;)!

The Crostini's with the truffles mushroom, truffles and parmesan were delic!! I had the salmon, which was so so- dont recommend. The Sole was good and the bread they bring to the table with the different olive oils- could have had that all night long!

Annnnnd I'm back! I apologize for my absence in the blog world for the last month, but it's been a super crazy month, filled with lots of great happenings on my end. Glad to be back though.

My friend called me the other day asking for some good restaurant referrals and after naming a few, she suggested this is something I should definitely blog about... I totally agree =). And so that's how today's blog came about...
First up..

Sam Nazarian's restaurant at SBE's new Redbury Hotel, 'Cleo'
I highly recommend this restaurant! Its located on Vine in Hollywood. Very cool vibe...great decor, great atmosphere and the middle eastern tapas menu adds to the overall eclectic feel to this restaurant. Make sure to order the Brussel Sprouts (completely fried-but, whatever!) and the Moussakah-delic!! It comes in a super cute miniature pyrex. We ordered some coffee at the end which was served in traditional/OG coffee cups... Presentation was pretty authentic, which I loved! And the bread!__Heavenly!

I will be posting another new dinner spot-which has only been open about a month, tomorrow!

Its been a few months since my sister shipped herself off to New York for culinary school and ever since I got back from visiting her over Christmas, I've wanted to go right back. She is there to excel in her pastry and baking skills so she can come back and help us all gain 20lbs from her delicious creations-hurry, our belly's are waiting!
Just the other day I was complaining to my friend about how unfair and not nice she is for not sending us anything up till now so we can try and enjoy...sure enough, her boyfriend, who just got back from visiting her, gives me a call last night to see if he could come by to drop something off. Well, did he drop something off all right! To my surprise, my sister had froze a bunch of yummies that she had hand made herself and sent us a bag full of them! We got danishes, olive bread, wheat bread-that was my fav Tal, cookies, chocolate croissants, and tons more! Of course, my mom had to bust out with the cheese and serve us on the spot-late night cravings! It was so good and we were both so pleasantly surprised. Miss you sissy, thanks for the delicious goodies!

I had such a great time yesterday taking these editorial shots for my store. I love getting creative and getting hands on with all the projects I work on. Having a team here working with me was especially nice as well. Things get done much faster, you feed off each others ideas and energy...it's just always more productive and enjoyable when you have other people around you to collaborate with. The concept behind the shoot was based around a "fancy" dinner party with jewels pouring out of cups and dishes... Some of the shots remind me of a treasure hunt! Really love how they turned out.

I just came across the Fall 2011 collection from Herve Leger by Max Azria on Elle.com and wanted to share my fav's. The new collection looks very futuristic and skeletal, if you will. Given the fact that Herve dresses are most known for the "bandage" dress, which pretty much sucks in all the juicy parts to the body, I find the new line to be pretty poetic. I was working on a Typography inspired style board the other day, so it inspired to do this post. I took a typography class my 2nd year in college and I learned a good amount about fonts, typefaces, and letters that I never knew before. For example, I learned that fonts had their own anatomy (see image below)- am I the only one that didn't know that?!
One of our projects in the class was to go outside and find letters made up by nature and take pictures of what we saw and then we had to transfer the letters we found onto a canvas in an abstract form. Once in awhile, I remember that project and start noticing and creating letters out of the objects surrouding me at that moment.

It's crazy what we notice once we stop and pay attention...

Ever since the clock struck 12:00am on January 1st 2011, I feel like a new person jumped into my body. I feel so much more positive, I'm interested in doing things I never thought I would be, I am much more open minded and just feel like anything is possible. Don't get me wrong, I definitely have my bad days, I don't think anyone can really escape from "bad days", they are bound to happen. For me, they just happen much less =)
What happens in life is based on how you perceive it. Having a shitty day? Keep thinking how shitty it is and its only going to get worse! Instead of killing yourself over your shitty day, give one of your close friends (one who doesn't get offended easily) a call and start yelling gibberish and cursing into the phone... at some point you will both stop and laugh at how ridiculous you sound.
No point in dwelling on things you can't change... remember the good times, the laughs and the things that make you smile.

CHELSEA LIMELIGHT MARKETPLACE

47 West 20th Street

This place, which started off as a church, then turned into a club and now finally marketplace, is definitely a must see. The inside is packed with several different vendors door to door from each other. You will find unique retailers-clothing, jewelry, gifts, etc and some pastry shops as well as some eateries. Super cute place and the architecture inside gorgeous.

Mario Batali's, Eataly Caffe is right in the flat iron district. This, close to 50,000sqft, food and wine marketplace is amazing. The place is filled with all things Italian...coffee, food, dishware, groceries, pasta! and tons more.

This place is awesome...another marketplace in a huge building which used to be a Biscuit factory before. Its filled with a bunch of vendors from cooking supplies, to sushi, even an anthropologie! When you're there make sure to have some crepes from Suzette's Creperie- delicious!

The Standard Hotel and Grill

this place is great for many reasons...
1- for the holiday's they set up an ice rink right in front of the entrance to the hotel, with a little coffee shop in the back. They were spiking all of the warm drinks upon request. They had thrown red shawls on each chair to keep you warm as you watch the skaters.
2- The grill has a great vibe and ambiance as well as some very delicious plates. Rib eye is amazing, as well as the wedge salad. Need a drink? They have an amazing ginger based drink called, the Penny Drop...
3-If you're looking to meet your friends in a fun and hip place, nothing too fancy, you have to go to their "Bier Garten' - beer garden. This place gets packed..they even have a Ping pong table also. fun place
4-There is also Le Bain upstairs at the the rooftop. club/lounge/bar
5- The hotel rooms- you have a view of the entire Hudson River...unreal.

Resolutions:

I'm not too big on new years resolutions, but thought it might be interesting to set some just to "challenge" myself and keep things in perspective...I tried to stay as realistic as I could!

1- Yoga, once a day, every day during the week- aiming to lean out this body and cleanse my mind! Namaste!

2- Stand up straight, no slouching!

3- Surround myself with positivity... positive energy and positive people. Liars, fakers, posers, rude, mean, toxic people-you're out!

4- Be more patient (very tough one)...count to 10 as often as I need to.

5- Value myself and know my self worth!

6- Be cautious and smart with the way I spend my time and with who I choose to do so.

7- Stay off the Blackberry when I am with people as best I can (close to impossible, but hey, im trying!)

8- Focus on the moment... will never get those times back.

9- Forgive, forget and move on

10- Laugh more

11-Be nicer to bigi (my sister's dog)...this one will be super easy, given the fact that he's moved out =)

12- Spend as much time as I can with my little loves Niko and Melina and be the best auntie to them! Give them all the things their parents wont!

13- Work hard, never give up...I WILL get there!

14- Spend more time with my girls................ in Vegas =)))

15- Eat more fruit, because apparently "its good for your skin"- this ones for you madre!

Went for a walk in the city the other night and ended up in the middle of Bryant Park. My night started off innocent, quiet and serene, then all of a sudden after 10pm it got a bit more interesting...i guess that's when all the crazies come out. Here are some snapshots of my adventure...

Ive been away from home for quite some time now... and I am slowly starting to get home sick-for my friends! I wish I could pack them up and bring them along with me everywhere I go! (Road trip ladies?!) Just wanted to let them know how much I miss them and cant wait to see all their faces in the New Year! We walked into a gallery in SOHO the other day and came across this awesome instillation by none other than, Mr. Brainwash... If you aren't familiar with who he is, here is a small recap...

"Mr. Brainwash ("MBW") is allegedly a pseudonym for Thierry Guetta, aka Cyprian^[1], but widely believed to be a fictional character. He is presented in the 2010 film Exit Through The Gift Shop as a French citizen who now lives in Los Angeles, having been a proprietor of a clothing store and videographer who evolved into a street artist and gallery artist, influenced by the street artists he claims to have documented through video over the years. The film says that Thierry Guetta was first introduced to street art by his cousin, the French street artist, Invader. The film includes what it claims to be authentic documentation of Space Invader, Shepard Fairey, Banksy and other well-known street artists at work on the streets. Bagatelle Brunch:

Anyone who is visiting New York and is 21+ HAS to go to Bagatelle Brunch. The restaurant, located in New York's meatpacking district, is decked out in all white, with crystal chandeliers hanging low from the ceiling and candles lit all over with some very romantic lighting. This is an afternoon party people. Be prepared to drink, bellini after bellini and don't shy away from getting on your chairs and dancing the day away-literally. Dancing on tables and chairs is a must, not an option. Make reservations around 1:30-2:00pm..dj starts spinning at 2pm. Had such memorable time, want to go back already! People dancing, laughing, smiling, having a blast as the snow storm blew its way through! Madness
At some point you are going to realize your starving-the croque monsieur is killer! bon appetit!

Its hard for me to say this, but I am really going to have a hard time going back home to LA. I love this city so much, and my trip this time around has been so special I don't know how I am going to say good bye. Everything is so magical about this city...the lights, the people, the buildings, the window displays, the streets, the subways, the food, the LOVE and even the weather! Last night, after we devoured some amazingly, magically, delicious spinach and artichoke pizza we decided what better way to burn the 20,000 (exaggeration) calories, than by walking. After we dropped off our friends at Penn Station, we headed towards Rockefeller Center to see the infamous tree and window displays on 5th Ave. After snapping away tons of pix, all of a sudden the crowd began to cheer and clap...we looked down at the empty ice skating rink to see a man down on his knees proposing to his girlfriend! It was so amazing. I can't believe we were there to catch that moment and that I happened to be snapping my own pix as it was happening. IT was such a beautiful thing to see- with the Christmas music playing in the background...

It would be a dream to have an all white "resting" room in my future house one day. Doesn't need to huge and extravagant, just quiet, serene and calming. Somewhere to unwind and regroup from... doesn't sound too shabby huh?!

Movie Review-Black Swan & The Fighter:

I was able to squeeze in 2 movies in the last few days- movies make me happy! The simple things in life...
First movie was Black Swan...im not sure about these nominations for Mila Kunis and all the talk about her being so great, but the movie in general is something I'd recommend you go see. Natalie Portman did a great job portraying this overly obsessed and perfect ballerina.. Not going to give too much info, but the movie is about a girls passion (towards ballet) and dedication to getting that one thing she has been dying (literally) to get. Its a wicked and dark movie.

The second movie is The Fighter. Wow oh wow. Christian Bale was absolutely AH-mazing in this film. The movie is about these two half brothers- Dicky Eklund and Mikey Ward. Dicky (Bale) is a crack addict who is trying to make a "comeback" as a fighter and Micky (Wahlberg) who is trying to make something of himself in the boxing world is usually overpowered by his brothers troubled ways. Christian Bale has absolutely transformed himself into the character and you find yourself feeling his pain and experience as a crack addict. Even if you aren't into a more "masculine" movie, I suggest seeing this just to experience his work in the movie. OSCAR winner for sure. Will totally be shocked if he doesn't win!

Lost in Brooklyn:

Happy Monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. I sure had an interesting one. New York has been absolutely amazing so far, and I feel like its only going to get better.
Yesterday, I decided to just get out and enjoy the city and do whatever comes along my way that seems interesting. I stepped out to grab a bagel at Murray's which was delic! (they don't toast) it kept me full for the entire day.

While I was having my bagel on the community bar, I noticed a flyer for a Holiday Bazaar in Brooklyn. Of course, curious me, I HAD to go as soon as I read it was the last day and that it was a pop up market, just for the holidays filled with up and coming designers. I wrote down the address stated on the flyer and asked my way around to the nearest subway. I had absolutely no idea where I was going, what direction or how far. So, I asked a man next to me where I needed to go- gave him the exact info I wrote them from the flyer. He told me I had to go to Bay Bridge and 70th and & 7th would be just 2 blocks away from that. I listened, figured he would know much better than me (never been to Brooklyn) I hoped on the train and after an hour and a half of a trip found out I am in the WRONG side of Brooklyn. Turns out, Avenues, Streets, North, South, etc are very important when asking or giving directions in NYC! I had omitted I needed to get to north 7th street so the man helping me originally sent me the complete opposite way. The guy at the station was a complete A-hole so I had to head back to square one (Union Square) and start over. But, while waiting for the train I met this super nice girl named Victoria, she pulled out a map (what I should have done originally) and explained where I needed to go, she was so helpful!
After a confusing morning to Brooklyn, I finally made it around 3pm to Artist and Fleas. It was definitely worth the 3 hour trip for sure. I got to enjoy Brooklyn, which I loved- its kind of like an ast coast version of Abbot Kinney in Venice California. Here are some snapshots from my day...

Churched Turned to Club Turned to Mall:

I came across the Chelsea Limelight Market yesterday and was really intrigued about the story behind the, now mall, filled with 50 different shops inside. The place originally used to be a church, then it was turned into a club and on May 7th 2010, its doors were open as a mini mall. The building inside still consists of its historical structure, which to me, makes the concept that much more interesting and appealing.
